An introduction to aspects of numerical computing and graphics relevant to statistical application. Computing machine architecture and arithmetic, basic computational techniques, error propagation. Specific numerical techniques such as linear algebra, root finding, optimization, quadrature. No prior computing experience is required but the course includes practical exercises in a high-level language.
